The Government Commissioner for African Swine Fever has issued Order No. 8/2026, aimed at strengthening the barriers along the A1 Bologna–Florence to limit the spread of ASF through the movement of infected wild boar. The following will be closed: access points, manholes, underpasses and bridges.

The operation is considered to be of national interest, urgent and unavoidable, in view of the epidemiological situation in Tuscany and Emilia-Romagna. The municipalities concerned in particular are: Sasso Marconi, San Benedetto Val di Sambro, Monzuno, Marzabotto, Grizzana Morandi, Firenzuola, Castiglione dei Pepoli, Calenzano and Barberino di Mugello.

The Order provides for the urgent temporary occupation of certain private areas as well, exclusively for carrying out the barrier works. The easement and occupation are planned to remain in place until 28 March 2027, unless the health-related grounds cease to apply sooner. Any extensions must be ordered by means of a specific measure.
The owners of the affected areas will receive compensation, calculated on the basis of the land’s condition, size and characteristics. Payment is expected within 90 days of signing the report recording the taking of possession, unless different arrangements are established by the implementing body.
