Biosecurity on farms and at logistics hubs in upstream and downstream sectors begins with the vehicles entering the premises. Tyres and the underbody of stock and feed transporters are particularly at risk of contamination. With the DestorFarm disinfection portal, Meier-Brakenberg specifically targets this contamination zone. DestorFarm is based on Meier-Brakenberg’s disinfection gates for all-round vehicle decontamination and has been specifically further developed for use on livestock farms.
A ramp-free, recessed, full-surface underfloor spray system sprays in an overlapping pattern towards the front and rear. Strings of nozzles, each 1 m high, wet the lower part of the vehicle at the sides. Hard-to-reach areas in the wheel arches, as well as mudguards and the chassis, are reached via a three-dimensional spraying system.

Sensors detect vehicles entering the system and start the disinfection process automatically. The Disinfection solution is mixed to the selected concentration via a metering pump.
Compared to all-round disinfection, the active nozzle length is reduced. As a result, consumption for an articulated lorry drops from around 100 to 35 litres of Disinfection solution. With an active ingredient concentration of 1 per cent, only 0.35 litres of concentrate are required instead of 1 litre.
Targeted disinfection of vehicle areas at risk of contamination reduces both investment and running costs. This makes automatic vehicle disinfection economically viable even for individual livestock farms. The recessed underfloor channel allows vehicles to pass over it smoothly and is designed to withstand heavy
vehicles in daily operation.

For immediate biosecurity in the event of an outbreak or for long-term prevention at high-traffic hubs such as slaughterhouses, dairies or feed mills, Meier-Brakenberg recommends automatic disinfection gates with all-round spraying. This ensures that the prescribed 0.4 l/m² is applied to all parts of the vehicle, achieving complete coverage including from above and from the sides.
In the event of an acute outbreak, DestorFarm can also be upgraded to include a complete disinfection system with a circumferential spray arch.
