Prevention: During the early, middle, and late stages of free-range broiler production, proactive prevention is key to preventing parasitic diseases. Specific measures are as follows:
1, carry out deworming properly. Deworm broiler chickens for the first time one month before they are released for free-range rearing; deworm them for the second time 15–20 days after release; thereafter, deworm them once every 1–2 months until they are marketed.
2, Manure treatment: Regularly clean the manure and bedding in the chick shelter and pile them in a designated area for fermentation to kill insect eggs.
3, Strengthen feeding management: Keep the chicken house dry and well ventilated, and disinfect it thoroughly on a regular basis; regularly observe the flock to ensure “early detection, early treatment”; protect chicks from rain and predators; and reasonably adjust the quality and quantity of concentrate feed to enhance their resistance.
Treatment: Once a parasitic infection is detected, take prompt treatment measures. Albendazole at 10–20 milligrams/kilogram may be mixed into the feed.
