- This article explains grain and corn prices in mid-October 2026 year.
- On Wednesday, the November contract, nearing expiry, broke through 300 euro/t and closed the session at 303 euro/t, after rising by 14 euro/t. This means that, converted into zlotys, it is as much as more than 1300 zł/t.
- PKO BP: We expect the average procurement price of wheat in the fourth quarter of 2026 year to be higher by 17-28 percent year on year (+11-17 percent year on year in the second quarter of 2026).
The soybean harvest is practically over. Prices are reaching 2100 PLN/ net. This is much more than last year, when a ton of seeds cost about 1500 PLN. However, yields are lower, as the Polish Soy Association estimated them at about 2,5 t/ha. Sunflower has also been harvested. It costs about 1900 PLN, compared with about 1600 PLN at this time last year. Corn is also more expensive. In 2025, at this time of year, wet grain was paid for at about 400 PLN. Now, in turn, it is as much as 660 PLN. Dry grain, meanwhile, currently costs about 920 PLN, compared with about 700 PLN a year earlier. The harvest is not yet very advanced across Poland as a whole. Only in the south, in the Opole Voivodeship, can it be said to be halfway complete. There, yields exceed 10 t/ha, and moisture is at 30 percent. Elsewhere, the harvest is likely to be delayed. Many fields are not yet mature. But yields are expected to be good, reaching even12-18 t/ha. Moisture, in turn, ranges from 22 to 34 percent.
Corn prices surge. Matif at its highest since February 2023.
What is happening on the exchange? Wednesday’s session on the European grain market saw prices strengthen. Corn attracted the most attention, with its quotations on Paris’s Matif rising markedly. The November contract, nearing expiry, broke through the level of 300 euros/t and ended the session at 303 euros/t, up 14 euros/t. This means that, converted into zlotys, it is as much as over 1300 zlotys/t. This is the highest level since February 2023. At our buying points, it is around 920 zlotys, so the difference is very large.
In turn, the series for March 2027 delivery rose by 11 euros/t, to 280,75 euros/t. Such a strong move shows that the market is increasingly factoring in the tight situation in the European corn balance. According to analysts, the rise in prices is driven primarily by reductions in stock forecasts, as well as geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and around the Black Sea. These factors increase uncertainty about grain availability and trading conditions.
It is worth noting that the balance situation on the French market is an important factor supporting prices. FranceAgriMer lowered its forecast for French corn ending stocks in the 2026/2027 season to 1,131 million t. By comparison, a month earlier the forecast was 1,465 million t, while a year earlier stocks stood at 1,971 million t. This means the latest forecast is lower by 334 thousand t compared with the previous month and by 840 thousand t year on year. These figures show that the European corn balance is becoming increasingly tight.
Wheat price 2026
Wheat grain at the collection points we surveyed, with protein content of up to 14,5 percent, costs 970 zł per tonne. How might prices develop in the near future? We recently wrote on farmer.pl about forecasts from PKO BP analysts.
- We expect the average wheat procurement price in the fourth quarter of 2026 to be higher by 17-28 percent year over year (+11-17 percent year over year in the second quarter of 2026), while annual price growth of at least a dozen or so percent will also persist in the first quarter of 2027. Developments in the geopolitical situation in the Black Sea are a significant risk factor for the forecasts and create conditions for substantial price volatility, according to the latest “Agro Nawigator” analysis.
