In the first three quarters, 21 listed pig farming companies marketed approximately 1.43 hundred million pigs, an increase of 552 ten thousand year on year. The three largest companies accounted for nearly seven tenths of the total, and in 9 month, 14 companies reduced their marketings month on month.
According to incomplete statistics, in the first three quarters of this year, 21 listed pig farming companies marketed a cumulative total of approximately 1.43 hundred million live pigs, an increase of 552 ten thousand from the 1.37 hundred million in the same period last year. Muyuan Foods, Wens Foodstuff Group, and New Hope together marketed 9591.95 ten thousand pigs, close to 1 hundred million, accounting for nearly 67% of the total marketings of 21 companies—almost seven tenths.
As in 8 month, Muyuan Foods’ marketings rose slightly, while those of Wens Foodstuff Group and New Hope both fell markedly year on year. New Hope’s decline was particularly pronounced, down nearly 15%, with nearly 200 ten thousand fewer pigs marketed.
Overall, most of the 21 listed pig farming companies continued to post year-on-year growth, with marketings declining at only 5 companies, so the total number of pigs marketed continued to rise. Apart from New Hope, Zhenghong Technology had the largest decline, continuing its year-on-year downward trend this year and marketing approximately 1.5 ten thousand fewer pigs than last year. However, its overall scale is relatively small, so it had a limited impact on total industry marketings.
In addition, looking at 9 month alone, 21 listed pig farming companies marketed a combined 1564.92 ten thousand live pigs. More companies recorded year-on-year growth than decline: 13 and 8, respectively. Month on month, however, companies reducing marketings clearly predominated, with 14 choosing to scale back. This was partly related to companies proactively controlling the pace after increasing marketings in 8 month, and partly to the marked decline in pig prices in the second half of 8 month.
At the company level, Muyuan, Wens, and New Hope remained the top three in marketings, while Zhengbang Technology also contributed nearly 85 ten thousand pigs. Companies with relatively strong year-on-year growth included Zhenghong Technology, Aonong Biotechnology, and Kemen Foods; in 9 month, their marketings increased by 121.47%, 54.20%, and 54.63%, respectively.
