São Paulo hog farmers’ purchasing power has been recovering in this partial month of October, after three consecutive months of decline. According to Cepea, this movement is the result of a sharper increase in live hog prices, combined with a less pronounced rise in soybean meal prices and a decline in corn prices.

According to Cepea researchers, market participants have reported growing household demand for pork, which consequently increases the industry's demand for new batches of animals.

In addition, as Cepea has reported in recent weeks, producers, faced with a situation of oversupply, have been striving to reduce the average weight of animals, aiming to reduce meat production per head, which has strengthened live hog prices since last month.
