The Smart Farrowing Pen, jointly developed by Weda Dammann & Westerkamp and VetVise, is an AI-powered farrowing assistance system. Designed for Weda farrowing pens, the system analyzes the behavior of sows and piglets 24h/24 using cameras. Real-time analysis of the animals’ behavior enables the automated management of control parameters: the temperature in the piglet area or the feeding curve is adjusted, making the farrowing pen (almost) autonomous. The Smart Farrowing Pen is also one of two winners of the Animal Welfare Award at EuroTier 2026.

Peter Prinzing presents the Pig-Barn-Cleaner, a fully automated manure cleaning and removal system. The system is designed for exercise areas (with partially or fully solid floors) and has a movable partition that allows the animals to be moved to isolate an area for cleaning. This area is then cleaned autonomously by a unit equipped with a brush system. The manure is collected in a collection tank and then discharged at a transfer point. Regular, automated manure removal reduces emissions and ensures consistent cleaning quality while reducing the workload.

The “SpaceKit” slurry collection tanks from the Danish company ACO Funki A/S, in collaboration with Space Systems ApS, use their funnel shape to reduce storage time and the surface area of exposed slurry. This system is combined with an underfloor air extraction system, located at the edge of the funnel, making it easier to add an air purification system for foul air. The latest studies on this system show a reduction in emissions of 64% ammonia, 92% methane and 50% odours. Thanks to their modular design, these tanks can be installed in existing buildings.

ATX Suisse makes it easier to switch to electric heating in pig barns with its ATX AluXheat safe infrared heating system. This system, consisting of a sealed aluminum housing, has several features valued in pig farming: resistance to high-pressure cleaning, thanks to its IPX9-certified design, which prevents water ingress, and prevention of humidity problems and short circuits, reducing the risk of fire.

Weanex NEO: Reducing neophobia in piglets (Silver Medal)

© HTBA

Weanex NEO is a new patented sensory concept, designed by HTBA to encourage piglets to consume solid feed by mimicking natural volatile compounds of maternal origin. The aim is to facilitate the dietary transition at weaning by encouraging piglets to explore and consume solid feed earlier, reassured by the presence of a reproduction of compounds from the placenta, colostrum and milk. The feed’s palatability is also improved by adding neohesperidin dihydrochalcone.

MS Schippers’ new robot, the MS Smart Cleaning Robot, is innovative in combining three cleaning steps: pre-wetting with a detergent, washing, and disinfection. This cleaning robot is equipped with a 3D LiDAR scanner and integrated software, enabling it to identify the structure of the building autonomously. It can then clean livestock areas without being programmed in advance. The robot also has a 5,50-meter telescopic washing arm, as well as automated pressure regulation at the cleaning nozzle. In the future, a system for detecting residual dirt through image analysis and artificial intelligence will be integrated into the robot.

Strohmatic AERO Dust Control: Reducing dust formation during bedding (Silver Medal)

Schauer Agrotronic’s Strohmatic AERO Dust Control system reduces dust formation during bedding in pig housing by applying oil to the straw before it enters the distribution pipework. In conjunction with a sensor system, oil is sprayed only during the bedding operation. This reduces oil consumption and ensures that dust is bound. Precise oil dosing also prevents the system from becoming clogged and avoids sticky surfaces in livestock areas, making cleaning easier.

The IN-FORCE S product, developed by VILOFOSS, is intended for piglets during critical rearing phases, with the aim of supporting their digestive health. In powder form, this product stands out for its innovative composition, notably through the inclusion of stabilized black soldier fly oil (rich in lauric acid), combined with active and bitter substances derived from hops, as well as essential oils. In vitro tests conducted demonstrated a reduction in microbial load of 95% compared with a negative control. On farms, initial trials indicated an improvement in feed conversion ratio and immunity.

© Weda Dammann & Westerkamp

Associated with sorting gates in pig farming, Weda’s PigTail is a system that processes camera images using artificial intelligence. PigTail compares real-time images of pigs with reference data, enabling an individual assessment of tail condition. Continuous aggregation also provides the exact number of animals with intact tails before they leave for the slaughterhouse, to support eligibility for animal welfare premiums.
