Key points:
- Profit-taking sends soybean prices down on the soybean on the Cbot
- The rapeseed market on the rapeseed on Euronext with no clear direction
- Prices are rather firm in sunflower

A new session of profit-taking and technical selling for the soybeanslisted on the Cbot this Wednesday. The official announcement from theUSDA on the sale of 470 000 t of seeds originating in United States to the China was not enough to give prices momentum. The rumor the previous day about this purchase had already been factored into prices. However, it is worth noting that it is the return of China to purchases after nearly two weeks of absence from international markets. Operators now expect further purchasing operations from it. Market participants are paying closer attention to weather conditions in the United States, with rain returning in some regions, meaning a further delay to the harvest but, according to observers, no impact on quality for the time being.
Prices for oil cakes of soyU.S. states remained firm this Wednesday, with the market expecting stronger demand internationally while those of thesoybean oilwere losing ground on technical adjustment operations and in the wake of the decline in the bean.
Internationally, more will be known today about the sowing conditions in Brazil, with the publication of the monthly report of Conab. L’Anec has for its part revised upward its export forecast for soybean origin Brazilfor September (see International Trade). The 470 000 t of soy purchased by the China (see above), or between 7 and 10 vessels, concern a delivery in January 2027 according to various market sources. It appears that Pacific North West departures are more profitable over the period considered than those departing from the Gulf of Mexico and Brazil. China will also hold a new auction of soybeans purchased in the past on 20 October, for a volume of 504 000 t. The crushing sector is reportedly currently experiencing overcapacity in the country, weighing on the profitability of the industry. According to UkrAgroConsult, l’Ukraine could increase its crushing in soy locally, the volume of seeds processed in the country could rise from 54,2 % of the harvest in 2025/2026 to 70-74 % in 2026/2027, according to the Donau Soja Association.
The rapeseed listed on Euronext has not changed much from one session to the next, with few buyers present in the markets. Speculation is growing about the decline in planted acreage in France and, above all, about the uneven growth of plants, including within the same plot, and the differences between regions (from 15% to 40%).
The canola listed on Winnipeg declined slightly again this Wednesday.
The courses of the sunflower oleic in Saint-Nazaire rendering made slight progress this Wednesday.
