Egg sales in large-scale retail increased by 1,3 % in volume and 4 % in value over P9 (from 24 August to 27 September 2026), according to data from the exclusive Circana barometer for Les Marchés, published in your daily newspaper on 8 October. Volume growth therefore slowed, as it averaged 4,7 % over the last 12 months.

In July, Kantar estimates that the share of cage eggs in household purchases for at-home consumption is 16% and floor-raised eggs 24,2%.

The decline in sales volume in September for organic and free-range eggs was reportedly linked by several operators to a lack of supply, as heatwaves caused losses in both types of farming. Sales nevertheless remain above their level for the same period in 2024.
The value of the egg category continues to rise
Although sales volumes for code 0 and code 1 fell in P9, revenue increased by 0,6% for each of these codes, reflecting higher prices. The price increase was even more pronounced for standard eggs (codes 2 and 3), as category revenue jumped 12,2% year on year and even 25,8% over two years.
