From 22 to 24 September, Finca Venero Claro, in Ávila, became an open classroom for pig production. Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health España and Fundación Kerbest held the fourth edition of Farm Campus, bringing together 25 attendees for a training experience designed to share knowledge, compare experiences, and turn everyday challenges into new opportunities for improvement.
With a theoretical and practical, open, and participatory approach, Farm Campus placed attendees at the center of learning. The program combined technical content with communication and leadership tools, encouraging direct exchange between speakers and professionals from different companies. Spending three days together in a privileged natural setting rounded out a comprehensive training experience.
The agenda began with the workshop “A clear course in uncertain waters,” led by Laura Pérez, a veterinarian specializing in leadership and team development, who invited attendees to reflect on how to manage change and move forward with a shared direction. From there, the sessions shifted the focus to key aspects of farm operations: Diego Arroyave, from Boehringer Ingelheim, addressed environmental control; Víctor Rodríguez, also from the company, explored medication management; and José Casanovas, from Cincaporc, shared insights on biosecurity and production systems.
The look to the future came with “Farms for tomorrow,” led by Alberto Pascual, CEO of Kerbest, and a live connection with Grangenia guided by Pilar Fernández. Both initiatives brought participants closer to models, experiences and practices aimed at continuing to advance pig production through innovation and the realities of life on the farm.
From knowledge to action
The final day completed this comprehensive vision with gestation management and the experience of batch management at 5 weeks, presented by Nacho Tardío of Cincaporc, and a session on farrowing management led by Fran Gonzalvo of Boehringer Ingelheim. In this way, Farm Campus connected different production areas with a shared purpose: turning shared knowledge into actionable decisions and management that is better prepared for the future.
This fourth edition strengthens a collaboration aligned with education, professional training and the transmission of the rural and environmental values promoted by the Venero Claro by Kerbest project. For Boehringer Ingelheim, Farm Campus represents its commitment to training that listens to the sector, connects people and provides tools to move towards pig production that is increasingly prepared, efficient and sustainable.
