- Palm oil down with record production in September and lower exports
Prices for soybeans traded on the Cbot gained some ground this Friday 9 October 2026: + 4,5 cts$/bu., to 1 292 cts$/bu., for the nearest and most actively traded November 2026 contract; also + 4,5 cts$/bu., to 1 308,75, for the second most actively traded January 2027 contract. The November 2026 contract, now the third most active, shed 10,50 €/t, to 502 €/t, as position liquidations continued ahead of the last trading day set for 31 October 2026. Ultimately, the publication of the Wasde report of theUSDA on global agricultural supply and demand this Friday, 9 October, was generally well received on thesoybeanmarket, with buyers, particularly funds, resuming their advance. Improved production and yields make it possible to anticipate a better response to global demand, particularly that ofChina. The publication of the weekly report is now expected:Crop Progress this Tuesday (due to the federal holiday on Monday—Columbus Day, although markets are open this Monday). Observers are now closely monitoring the pace of the harvest to ensure adequate supplies for crushing plants in the coming weeks, as U.S. weather suggests that the existing delay (due to rain) could increase slightly. However, the Midwest experienced favorable harvesting conditions this weekend.
Soybean meal prices also rose significantly, with global demand expectations very strong. Soybean oil prices were also higher.
Internationally, industry professionals are closely following the progress of sowing in South America, with questions about Brazil due to very heavy rainfall in the south of the country. They are also waiting to see how and when China will return to the market after a week of festivities marking the founding of the People’s Republic. Analysts estimate that 10 Mt would still need to be purchased by the Chinese by 31 December 2026 if they are to fulfil their “commitment” of 25 Mt decided in October 2025. The publication of the Wasde of theUSDA on global agricultural supply and demand this Friday, 9 October, recorded no significant changes to the various components of the global soybean balance sheet.
The rapeseed listed on Euronext therefore changed little this Friday in the most actively traded contracts, with oil prices relatively stable at the end of the week.

Palm oil listed in Kuala Lumpur has lost considerable ground. Operators had been waiting for an export tax exemption measure to be announced in the budget presentation in Malaysia: it is not included in this proposal. MPOB is due to publish its monthly statistics for September today, with stock levels expected to be historically high due to record production but weak demand from international users.
The canola quoted at Winnipeg changed very little on Friday, closing with very small gains depending on the contract month. Oil prices were fairly stable and provided no support. Harvesting is also continuing, with considerable delays and the threat of an early winter.
Prices for sunflower high-oleic delivered Saint-Nazaire did not change from one session to the next.
