- The Danish SPF price list lowered prices for some health statuses by 10 kroner, and a similar drop in rates is also visible on the piglet market in Poland.
- Domestic piglets (30 kg) cost 190–270 zł/head, and the survey average is 230 zł/head, or about 5 zł less than last week.
- Producers indicate that sales are taking place without major bottlenecks, but piglet prices are well below production costs, which often exceed 250 zł per head.
The announced Danish SPF price list yesterday heralded a change in the piglet market, with prices for some health statuses reduced by 10 kroner (or around 6 zlotys). A similar price drop was also recorded in Poland.
Prices of domestic piglets 30.10.2026
According to our survey, domestic breeders are offering domestic piglets weighing 30 kg at prices ranging from 190 to 270 zlotys per head. The average price in our survey was 230 zlotys/head, or around 5 zlotys less than in last week's report. Piglets weighing 20 kg are offered at prices ranging from 200 to 210 zlotys, with an average price of 202 zlotys/head. This is around 3 zlotys less than a week ago.
Prices of imported piglets 30.10.2026
A similar price drop was observed for imported animals. The average price in our survey was around 180 zlotys/head, or around 4 zlotys less than a week ago. Depending on the importer and health status, animal prices range from 150 to 200 zlotys/head.
Sales well below production costs
According to domestic producers, the only positive aspect of the current situation is that there are no signs of major bottlenecks in the sale of weaners. Farmers hope that by the time the animals are fattened, the market situation will have improved enough for their sale to bring them at least some profit. However, weaner producers themselves remain under considerable financial pressure. The cost of producing animals varies and depends on many factors, but among the people we spoke to, few can raise an animal for less than 250 zł. Given that the average sale price is several dozen złoty lower, it is clear how much of a loss production is currently generating.
