Laying hen slaughter volumes are increasing slightly this week, driven in particular by a rise in salmonella cases, which has helped fill the schedules of some slaughterhouses.
Slaughterhouses are still looking for volumes, but availability remains limited. With the egg market still favourable, many farmers are choosing to keep their flocks for a new laying cycle, thereby reducing the number of hens destined for slaughter. At the same time, chick hatcheries are struggling to meet demand for placements in 2027, a sign of a supply chain under pressure from market needs.
In addition, a few containers destined for Africa were shipped, while other departures are already scheduled for next week.
