EU pork exports fell 13% in the first seven months of 2026, according to the European Commission’s latest agri-food trade monitor. Exports totalled €6.32 billion from January to July, down €930 million from €7.25 billion a year earlier.

The Commission said the fall was driven by lower prices, with volumes also dropping to China, Japan, the Philippines and the UK. Exports to the UK, the EU’s largest pork market, fell 8%. Exports to Japan fell after the African swine fever (ASF) outbreak in Spain in November 2025, the Commission said.

Pork accounted for about 5% of EU agri-food exports in the period. The EU’s pork trade surplus narrowed by €923 million to €6.11 billion, from €7.04 billion a year earlier. Pork imports were €202 million.

Across all agri-food products, EU exports fell 1% to €138.7 billion and imports fell 4% to €108.6 billion.
