Let us recall: last week, the German association VEZG decided to lower the recommended price of fattening pigs to 1,40 euros per kilogram for a pig with a meat content of 57 percent. Taking the current euro exchange rate into account, the adjustment amounted to around 20 – 25 groszy. Although this did not translate proportionally into prices at domestic purchasing points, prices fell slightly.

Pig prices 23.10.2026

According to data from our survey today, domestic slaughterhouses are offering farmers prices for class E pigs (according to the EUROP classification) of 5,60 – 6,10 zł net per kilogram, with an average price of around 5,85 zł/kg. This is nearly 10 groszy less than in our previous price report.

Prices for live-weight pigs have also fallen: prices at domestic purchasing points range from 4,00 – 5,00 zł net per kilogram, with an average price of 4,40 zł net per kilogram. This is also around 10 groszy less than in the last price report.

The situation at purchasing centers is balanced

As we learn from purchasing centers, the situation currently seems fairly balanced. Whereas at this time last year, farmers sometimes had to wait as long as two weeks to sell their animals, the supply of animals is now clearly lower, so purchasing is taking place on an ongoing basis. So far, however, there is also no sign of increased demand for pork, suggesting that prices will probably remain at their current—that is, very low—level in the near future.
