From 10 to 13 November 2026, in Hanover, EuroTier, the international trade fair for livestock professionals organized every two years by DLG, presents the latest innovations for more efficient, sustainable animal production that is more respectful of animal welfare. Among the main themes of this edition, animal feed takes center stage, with solutions focused on precision nutrition, nutrient utilization and automated distribution. These advances aim to optimize feed rations, better control feed costs and improve livestock performance. French professionals can discover these innovations during International Farmer’s Day: admission to the fair is free for them on Wednesday 11 November.
At EuroTier 2026, animal feed is emerging as a driver of economic efficiency and resource management. These innovations improve nutrient absorption, reduce losses and optimize the quantities distributed, while maintaining animal performance. Dry matter sensors, automated distribution and feed ration adjustments are among the solutions to discover.
More precise feeding and better nutrient utilization: innovations in this area adjust feed intake to animals’ needs. Sensors measure the dry matter content of the ration as it is being prepared. Automated systems can then adjust the amount of water added to achieve the desired composition and ensure a more homogeneous ration. Other solutions act directly on nutrient absorption: in dairy cows, an award-winning feed supplement improves the use of nitrogen and calcium to limit nutrient losses and ammonia emissions. These advances illustrate the pursuit of more precise feeding, for better control of feed costs and reduced resource waste.
Animal health and better feed utilization: innovations in animal nutrition also seek to support gut health and improve feed utilization, particularly in pigs and poultry. Solutions based on plant-derived substances, sometimes combined with other functional components, stabilize the intestinal flora and support digestion, with the aim of limiting health problems and reducing reliance on treatments. In piglets, aromatic compounds inspired by olfactory signals found in the placenta and breast milk encourage solid feed intake from the first days of life. This early feed intake facilitates digestive adaptation and the transition to weaning. These approaches illustrate a shift in feeding strategies that combine prevention of digestive disorderswith adaptation to animals’ needs and better nutrient utilization.
Automation and optimization of feed distribution: feeding equipment is evolving toward systems capable of adapting certain operations to animals’ needs. For calves, a device using a camera and artificial intelligence individually analyzes feeding behavior to monitor consumption, identify potential abnormalities and adjust certain operations according to observed needs. For feed storage in silos, laser measurement devices assess the remaining volume, while temperature and humidity sensors monitor storage conditions to detect risks of deterioration early. These technologies thus combine automated operations, animal monitoring and more precise supply management. They reduce feed stock losses, facilitate work organization and improve feed efficiency.
For French professionals, EuroTier 2026 offers a unique opportunity to observe these latest developments, talk with solution designers and assess their value for each farm: animal needs, investments, workforce availability and return on investment.
For Louis Beneteau, a future farmer preparing to set up a dairy farm, this biennial trade fair is an opportunity to compare his plans with the sector’s latest developments: “I want to set up a dairy farm. Eurotier is therefore particularly interesting for me, especially with EuroTier Milky Way, which gives this production an important place,” he explains. Beyond equipment, he wants to discover new approaches to animal nutrition, genetics, health and welfare. “I want to make the most of EuroTier to see what is available elsewhere, discover solutions that could be interesting for my future project and come away with new ideas to help me prepare for setting up my farm as well as possible.”
Admission to EuroTier 2026 is free for French visitors on Wednesday 11 November for International Farmer’s Day. French farmers can obtain free tickets via the link https://www.messe-ticket.de/DLG-SHOP/ETED26/Shop with the code: ET26IFDFR
