The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (Minister Oh Yu-kyung) has revised the “Export Guide for Livestock Products and Other Foods of Animal Origin” to make it easier to check the latest information on livestock product exports.
Export negotiations with Singapore and Vietnam were concluded in 11 and 4, respectively. As a result, animal-origin foods such as processed meat products can now be newly exported to these two countries.
The main revisions include ▲ adding livestock product items newly approved for export ▲ updating and detailing registration procedures for export establishments by country and product ▲ reflecting revisions to the approval criteria for establishments in export destination countries ▲ adding heat-treatment temperatures by livestock species and product.
In particular, regarding export establishment registration, it was agreed that heat-treated processed meat products exported to Singapore (excluding poultry meat) would be registered on a priority basis without an on-site inspection, and this has been reflected in the guide. The guide also distinguishes, by country, between items eligible for priority registration and items requiring an on-site inspection.
The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety expects this revision to help domestic companies identify export opportunities for a wider range of K-food products and improve access to export markets.
The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety said it would continue to actively support the promotion of exports of Korean livestock products, including by providing ongoing information related to food exports.
