• The Ministry of Agriculture plans to introduce a new eco-scheme, “Low-emission cattle production,” aimed at reducing methane emissions.
  • The new payment is to be included in the direct payment system under the CAP Strategic Plan for the years 2023–2027.
  • Details of the eco-scheme, including eligibility conditions and support rates, are not yet known - the government is scheduled to adopt the draft in the fourth quarter of 2026.

New eco-scheme under direct payments

The eco-scheme will be added to the chapter on direct payments, sectoral interventions and rural development interventions, in the subsection devoted to direct payments.

The document published by the Ministry of Agriculture does not yet provide details on the participation conditions, farm requirements, or payment rates. We will keep you informed of any changes and details concerning the new payment.

Changes will also cover other interventions

The new eco-scheme is one of several changes planned in the draft. The ministry aims to increase the flexibility of support, improve the implementation of interventions, and better align the plan with the current needs of the agricultural sector. These changes stem from experience with previous application rounds and the proposals submitted.

The draft includes modifications that fall within the limit on annual changes that may be submitted to the European Commission.
