Daegu-Gyeongbuk Pig Farmers Cooperative (Chairman Lee Sang-yong) announced that Kwon Ho-san and Gu Seon-hui, a couple who are members in the Yeongcheon area and operate Yongcheon Farm, were selected as recipients of the 10 “New Farmer of the Month” award presented by the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation, on the 2th.
The “New Farmer of the Month” award is presented to leading farmers who have contributed to increasing farm income and developing local agriculture. It was established to identify leading farmers through the New Farmers Movement, based on self-reliance, science, and cooperation, and to develop agricultural leaders who will advance the common interests of farmers.
Kwon Ho-san and Gu Seon-hui have been engaged in pig farming since 2005, for more than 20 years, and obtained HACCP certification in 2009, taking the lead in producing safe livestock products. As head of the Yeongcheon City branch of the Korean Pork Producers Association in 2019 and an auditor of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Pig Farmers Cooperative in 2020, Kwon Ho-san contributed to the development of the Korean pork industry and the promotion of the value of Korean pork. The couple have also consistently served and supported their local community, including by donating scholarships.
Representative Kwon Ho-san said, “I believe this award recognizes not only our farm’s achievements but also our efforts to coexist with the local community and lead the way in clean livestock farming. We will continue to put these values into practice, actively use the services of Daegu-Gyeongbuk Swine Cooperative, and share the cooperative’s various programs and benefits with nearby pig farmers so that we can grow together.”
Chairman Lee Sang-yong said, “I sincerely congratulate Kwon Ho-san and Gu Seon-hui on receiving the New Farmers Award. We will work together to ensure that the achievements our members have built in the field receive broad recognition, and will spare no effort in supporting them as a steadfast partner so they can take pride in and devote themselves to pig farming.”
