The 4th Hapcheon Hwangto Hanwoo Festival<photo> concluded after three days, recording 9 ten thousand 5 thousand visitors and approximately 15 hundred million won in sales. Compared with last year, visitors increased by approximately 20.3% and sales by approximately 25%, marking the highest figures on record.
Hosted and organized by Hapcheon Livestock Cooperative (chairman Kim Yong-wook), the festival was held from the 9th to the 11th at the grass plaza of Hapcheon County Sports Park under the slogan “Come and see, come and try, come and eat, come and buy.” It was sponsored by Hapcheon County, the Hapcheon County Council, the Gyeongsang National University RISE Project Group, and the Korean Beef Board.
At the venue, discounted Hapcheon Hwangto Hanwoo beef was sold, and a charcoal grilling area with a capacity of 1 thousand 400 people was operated so visitors could enjoy the Hanwoo beef they purchased on site. The pub zone within the grilling area also featured locally brewed craft beer and makgeolli.
Chef Lee Kyung-jin of Tamayura at JW Marriott Hotel Seoul donated his time and talent to provide striploin steak and garlic risotto for 200 servings. Children’s play facilities, a red clay craft-making activity, performances by invited singers and local arts groups, and fireworks also added to the festival’s enjoyment.
It operates a local agricultural and specialty products sales center and the “Youth Market,” and has also set up a camping zone and a waiting area for the grill area. Visitors can use the Hwangmaesan Silver Grass Festival parking lot for free and enter Hapcheon Image Theme Park and Daejang Gyeongpan Theme Park for free, linking the event with local tourism.
Cooperative head Kim Yong-wook said, “I hope this festival will be one where the taste and quality of Hapcheon Hwangto Hanwoo, carefully raised by livestock farmers, are recognized and visitors make happy memories. We will continue to develop it into a festival that brings hope to farmers, trust and enjoyment to consumers, and vitality to county residents, and that people will want to visit again every year.”
