During the morning session on 10/20, pork concept stocks strengthened. Dongrui Shares (001201.SZ) hit the daily limit at the open, Dayu Bio (920970.BJ) opened up nearly 15%, and Bangji Technology (603151.SH) rose more than 9%; Tiankang Bio (002100.SZ) and Muyuan Foods (002714.SZ) also advanced.
On the news front, the growth rate of market hog sales has slowed, while the reduction in baseline production capacity has accelerated, giving rise to relatively positive expectations for the future performance of the hog farming industry.
On 10/20, the National Bureau of Statistics released data showing that in the first three quarters, 53739 ten thousand pigs were sold nationwide, an increase of 747 ten thousand year on year, or 1.4%. The growth rate was down 0.3 percentage points from the first half of the year. At the end of the third quarter, the national hog inventory stood at 42533 ten thousand, down 1147 ten thousand year on year, or 2.6%. Of this total, the breeding sow inventory was 3602 ten thousand, down 433 ten thousand year on year, or 10.7%. The decline widened by 4.2 percentage points from the second quarter. The inventory currently stands at 96.0% of the normal level of 3750 ten thousand.
