In the Eure department, where large-scale cereal farming is predominant, the poultry sector is proving to be a strategic lever for adapting to climate change, thanks to its potential for diversification and its complementarity with mixed crop-livestock farming systems.

Thus, the region has set itself the goal of developing broiler poultry production by 2035. This commitment involves annual development targets: the creation of 6 300 carcass equivalent tonnes (tec), as well as the construction of 19 poultry houses of 1 500 m² and of 16 Label Rouge or free-range poultry houses of 400 m². Since 2023, 66 poultry projects spread across the region have received financial support, amounting to 3,30 M€ out of a total of 15 M€.

Three ways to support farms

The Normandy region’s action is based on three ways. First, investment grants through the Normandie Agriculture Investissement (NAI) scheme, co-funded by the region and the EAFRD. This scheme provides funding of up to 40% of investments, up to a maximum amount of 80 000 euros per project. A quarter of the funding under this scheme is devoted to adapting to climate change, representing a budget of 10 million euros. The region then commits to facilitating access to financing from banks through a guarantee scheme. Of the portfolio to be built, totaling 265,50 million euros, 70% had already been mobilized as of 31 August 2026 to support nearly 1 000 loans. Finally, some Strategic, Environmental and Economic Agricultural Advisory cheques are offered to farmers so they can receive support on four issues: climate change, the region’s food sovereignty, improving quality of life at work, and setting up or transferring a production facility. The region covers 80% of the cost of the advice, capped at a maximum grant of 2 000 €.
