It was learned on 19 from a press conference held by the Sichuan Survey Team of the National Bureau of Statistics that in the first three quarters of this year, Sichuan Province produced 500.9 ten thousand tonnes of pork, beef, mutton and poultry meat in total, up 4.2% year on year; 4635.6 ten thousand pigs were slaughtered, up 1.5% year on year.
In the first three quarters, 4635.6 ten thousand pigs were slaughtered in Sichuan, up 1.5% year on year. Of these, 1518.2 ten thousand were slaughtered in the third quarter, up 2.1% year on year. Pork production reached 390.8 ten thousand tonnes, up 5.0% year on year. Of this, pork production in the third quarter was 134.6 ten thousand tonnes, up 4.8% year on year. At the end of the third quarter, Sichuan had 4046.0 ten thousand pigs in stock, up 4.6% year on year. Of these, the breeding sow inventory was 341.2 ten thousand head, a year-on-year decrease of 22.6 ten thousand head, down 6.2%. This was 92.2% of the normal inventory level of 370.0 ten thousand head.
In the first three quarters, 203.2 ten thousand cattle were slaughtered in Sichuan, up 0.1% year on year. Of these, 74.2 ten thousand were slaughtered in the third quarter, up 4.2% year on year. At the end of the third quarter, Sichuan had 839.4 ten thousand cattle in stock, up 1.5% year on year.
In the first three quarters, 44935.8 ten thousand poultry were slaughtered in Sichuan, up 0.3% year on year; poultry meat production was 73.1 ten thousand tonnes, up 3.6% year on year; and egg production was 130.9 ten thousand tonnes, up 5.6% year on year. Of this, egg production in the third quarter was 34.4 ten thousand tonnes, up 12.6% year on year. At the end of the third quarter, Sichuan had 38059.9 ten thousand poultry in stock, up 5.4% year on year.
