On the French pig market in Plérin, downward pressure continues this week, with a further total decline of 6 cents. Negotiations began directly at this lower level, as buyers remained firm on their pricing positions, which limited the volume of transactions. Available volumes remain too high for demand. While slaughter rates remain relatively stable from one week to the next, carcass weights continue to increase, indicating a growing supply of pigs on the market.
Pig prices fall in Northern EU and Spain
Northern European pig markets are lowering their quotations this week, following a period of stability. In Germany, slaughtering activity remains strong, but outlets are struggling to absorb the still-abundant supply in some regions. In the Netherlands, Vion slaughterhouses are also lowering their benchmark by a few cents amid a meat supply that remains difficult to sell due to insufficiently strong demand. In Spain, the pig price quotation is also down by a few cents this week, following the trend observed in the main European markets.

Overall, the European pork market shows no real improvement, with quantities too high for demand that is too weak. Nevertheless, in Denmark, after several months of stability at a low level since June, the price quotation is rising by a few cents to narrow the price gap with the main European markets.
